The Removable Rights in a Florida Guardianship

The following six rights are personal and can only be removed (and not delegated to another) from the ward:
- The right to marry*
- The right to vote
- The right to personally apply for government benefits
- The right to have a driver's license
- The right to travel
- The right to seek & retain employment
The next list of rights can be removed from the ward and then delegated to the guardian:
- The right to contract
- The right to sue and/or defend lawsuits
- The right to apply for government benefits
- The right to manage property or to make any gift or disposition of property
- The right to determine residence
- The right to consent to medical treatment
- The right to make decisions about social environment or other social aspects of life.
*If the right to contract has been removed, then the right to marry is subject to court approval.
